Firstly, thank you for walking alongside me on this incredible journey. For a long time, I have shared fragments of my work with you, but in an attempt to master my multi-hyphenate life, it is time to better consolidate all news pertaining to the worlds I create and operate within. Welcome to The Discourse of The Polymath, a space where art, strategy, design, and culture finally breathe together.
Rest assured, this evolution only means our connection will grow deeper & fruitfully. We’ve been consolidating, incubating and building in the background. Now to accelerating our efforts. Not to worry, there is comforting news on the horizon regarding the Folklore Festival, key collaborations, and shows for the second half of the year, alongside the interesting and impactful intersections we hope to continue having with our dedicated community. We also look forward to sharing more about the conferencing and connections made for our Folklore Community at Sauti Za Busara-Movers & Shakers, IOMMA-Sakifo, the A to Jazz Showcase Festival & more. New Album Release
It’s new music Friday and something new has indeed blossomed … And I can't wait to bring you into its anatomy, every petal and pollination. What started off as poems in defiance to a pending return to corporate in 2014, has evolved into a bold expression of courageous steps taken to conquer my fears in my creative pursuit. In avoidance of a dream deferred, these affirmations and declarations are now a living testament of dreams constantly being realised... here I am in real time, evolving as I unveil a new era & chapter of my becoming #indelible storyteller - the muliti-hyphenated #polymath.Duet Download of Doodle Do - Diminished Light
It was the 7th of February 2017, and I thought I was ready to release the album 'That Box' after my second album, Warrior of Light, in 2016. But the intention wasn't fully unveiled to me and the music not fully cooked. It took me 10 years to merge musical words from 2016 to 2026, and 11 years to live the project's full intention.
And now, I am finally ready to bridge the uncertainty and pain of those earlier years in my creative pursuit with the bold affirmations I have come to embody.
Now we begin again... the release journey starts today with a duet of singles, ‘Doodle Do’ ~ ‘Diminished Light’, which talk to a dream deferred and feeling the fear of never breaking away to live my dreams. A kind of dream deferred. #Kinfolk and beyond - Folklore Festival, Africa-Euro Tour, Showcases, Talks & more
Beyond Folklore, we continue to tell impactful stories; TV presenting and moderating interior design panels for brands like Kartell, SA Homeowner and The Home Chanel. As well as exploring creative industry solutions and eco-systems in panel discussions at our very own Folklore Festival, Sauti Za Busara’s Movers and Shakers, IOMMA at Sakifo Reunion Island.
For the second year in a row, what an absolute honour it has been to hold space, MC, perform, and deliver the keynote (Mind/Matter) for some of the most impactful women in South Africa’s interior, design, and architecture industries. Had a conversation with Federico Luti, CEO of Kartell, and Roberto Palomba who together with Ludovica Serafini, created some of Kartell’s most significant collections in recent years. You all know how much I love design and interior design! It was an absolute joy unearthing Kartells creative process and unveiling the thinking behind their products and their positioning in Cape Town.
Talking about living one's dreams and taking stories to the world, the recent Africa-Euro tour had many highlight moments. From in-depth cultural exchanges & experiences in Zanzibar, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Reunion Island, to a successful showcase show at Sofia, Bulgaria's A to Jazz Festival. A sold-out show in Paris on the night of the Soccer World Cup with France playing, electric sets at Cabaret Frappé in Grenoble, and vibes so strong at Breil Sur Roya's Festival les passeurs d'humanité, in the middle of our set the electricity went off through the town.
As an artist of multiple disciplines nothing grounds the myriad of worlds I navigate quite like the power of community, which brings us to the very heart of our shared heritage… Folklore community. A new season is upon us, and as much as we love a big bang, this next chapter comes growth and good news. The next reveal of the Folklore Community programme comes out next week Friday in our weekly issue. As the kids say watch this Space!
